Welcome to Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church's new blog. This will be in a work in progress for some time as we learn to create and manage our posts.

Memorial: Sister Ruth Myles Anders

This was the life of Sister Ruth Myles Woods Anders, one of ten children born to the late R.H. Myles and Fannie Calloway Myles. She was born in West Ouachita Parish, four miles south of Calhoun, Louisiana.

She attended the public schools in Ouachita Parish. After high school, her college study was done at Grambling State University where she received her Bachelor's Degree.

Sister Anders confessed Christ at an early age at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where she preformed religious services in many capacities. She loved her family and her church. She served on the Usher Board and Deaconess Board. She was a Sunday School teacher an an avid Mission worker.

During her life, Sister Anders engaged untiring in religious, civic and community work. She was a charter member of the Order of Eastern Star, Look to the East Chapter #87 of Calhoun, Louisiana. She was a past Grand Officer of the Grand Chapter. Sister Anders served as Dean of the New Hope Baptist Congress. She taught in the Ouachita Parish School System. A tireless worker; an admirable teacher; a loving sister, aunt, mother and grandmother, she was truly a sterling character.

Sister Ruth Anders was the wife of Sam Anders and the mother of Joe Anthony and Richard Henry Woods who preceded her in death. Sister Anders was called home Wednesday, May 14, 2003. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughter-in-laws, Jacqueline Woods and Ada Lea Woods; seven grandchildren, Elbert "Lynn" Woods (Sandra), Christine Ford Houston (Lennon), Paula Woods, Erica Hawk, Adrienne Woods Willis (Donald), Andrea Woods Goods (Anthony), and Jo Antoinette Woods; many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
