Brother Johnny Smith was born to Jimmy and Nina Bowers Smith on January 30, 1906. He departed this life on Sunday, December 24, 1995 at 7:45 PM at the Summit Institute in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Brother Smith married Luevonger Hanspard in October, 1925, and to this union a son was born. Both Luevonger and son, Henry Boyd, preceded him in death.

Brother Smith has been a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church for many years.

Those holding dearest memories of him include a son, Murry Parker, Woodbridge, VA; one daughter, Dora Antoine, Renton, Washington; one brother, Wesley Smith, Crosby, Texas; five sisters; Ethel Pierce, Ruston, Louisiana; Charity Williams, Grambling, Louisiana; Nina Mae Zeigler, Orange, Texas; Gladys Butler and Janie McClendon, Monroe, Louisiana; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Father, we will miss you so,
Yet, we do not regret seeing you go,
Because while we loved you so
We know God loves you more.
We will not be lonesome alone,
Cause it was His will to call you home.
You fought your fight and won the race,
To rest from the toils of this earthly place.
