Welcome to Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church's new blog. This will be in a work in progress for some time as we learn to create and manage our posts.

Memorial: Sister Janice Head

Sister Janice Head was born to the late Medria and James Hanspard on September 14, 1916. She was reared and educated in Ouachita Parish. She was married to the late Elmer "Buddy Green" Head and to this union five children were born.

Sister "Geneva" as she was commonly called, joined the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at an early age. She lived a devoted life as a wife, mother and ardent church worker. She was active as an Usher, Mission Worker and Sunday School Scholar. She served as a Bible Teacher in the New Hope Women's Institute. She loved her family, friends and church and portrayed it by rendering faithful service.

A busy Christian life came to a close on Tuesday, November 27, 1984 at 7:35 PM at the Saint Francis Medical Center. She leaves to cherish her memory; Four daughters: Mrs. Gertie Woods, Mrs. Iola Stanley of Monroe, LA; Mrs. Ella Washington of West Monroe, LA; Mrs. Marguerite Rigsby, Chicago, Ill; one son: Elmer Ray Head of Chicago, Ill; two brothers: B.H Hanspard of Chicago, Ill, Press Hanspard of Monroe, LA; three sisters: Emma Jackson, and Rosie Lewis of Weest Monroe, LA, and Jeanette Steel of Chicago, Ill; thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; One god-daughter: Mrs. Annie Mae Gipson.
