Memorial: Deacon Dillie Jackson

"O Thou Whose Sacred Feet Have Trod"
Deacon Dillie Jackson
Alpha August 17, 1896
Omega June 11, 1964

Service Sunday, June 14, 1964

On August 17, 1896 there was born to the union of the late Mr. Pete Jackson and Mrs. Neiley Adams Jackson a son in Ouachita Parish. This son was named Dillie Jackson, who lived in Mt. Pleasant Community practically all of his life.

He married to the late Marania Cassey Jackson in 1915. To this union seven children were born. Also under this Christian atmosphere one nephew was reared, Fred Cassey.

At an early age he confessed Christ and united with the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

He was selected as a Deacon and served faithfully until death. He also served in many other important positions with much competence.

The Mt. Pleasant and adjacent communities have been benefited by his reliable service.

For a number of years he served on the Advisory Council and contributed much to education. He was loved by all who knew him and his personality was always pleasing. He quietly slept away June 11, 1964, at 11:10 P.M. at the Glenwood Hospital, West Monroe, Louisiana.

Those who mourn his departure are: four daughters, Mrs. Lorene J. Odell, West Monroe, Louisiana; Mrs. Thelma J. Martin, Monroe, Louisiana; Mrs. Margie J. Vernon, New Mexico and Miss Odell Jackson, West Monroe, Louisiana; three sons; Mr. Hosea Jackson, West Monroe, Louisiana; Mr. John S. Jackson, Calhoun, Louisiana and Mr. Fred W. Jackson, Angie, Louisiana; twelve grandchildren, one niece, four nephews, many relatives and friends.
