Mrs. Maranie Cassey Jackson, daughter of the late Mrs. Ellen and Mr. Berry Cassey was born January 19, 1896 in Jackson Parish. There she received her early education and later entered Coleman College.

Mrs. Jackson taught in the Ouachita and Jackson Parish School Systems for several years. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was active in all religious and educational activities.

Mrs. Jackson was married to Mr. Dillie Jackson March 7, 1915 and to this union eight children were born -- Mesdames Edith Lorene Odell, Thelma Martin; Misses Marjorie and Odell Jackson; Messrs. Hosea, John Spence and Fred Jackson. Among other relatives are two sisters, Mrs. Tamer Young and Mrs. Ollie Powell; three brothers, F. L. Cassey, Fred Cassey, P. J. Cassey and eight grandchildren.

God touched Mrs. Jackson Monday afternoon, April 23, 1956 at 12:30 P.M. She had delivered an address Sunday night to the Mission at the Jerusalem Baptist Church and closed her remarks with:

YOUR MISSION
"If you cannot on the ocean sail
Among the swiftest fleet,
Rocking on the highest  billows
Laughing at the storms you meet
You can stand among the sailors
Anchored yet within the bay
You can lend a hand to help them
As they launch their boats away."
