Welcome to Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church's new blog. This will be in a work in progress for some time as we learn to create and manage our posts.

We hope you'll begin to find content that will be helpful in your daily walks with God as well as begin to see our upcoming memorial posts for those whose earthly bodies lay at rest in the Mount Pleasant Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorial: Deacon Joe Britton

Deacon Joe Britton was born to the parents of the late Aulder and Jane Britton in Calhoun, Louisiana.

He became a Christian at a youthful age by joining the Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Later he moved to the Mount Pleasant Community and united with Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He was an active church worker and served diligently as a Deacon, Youth Leader and Sunday School Scholar. He enjoyed helping with worship services and any other church project that he was capable of doing. He spent many fruitful years in the Master's service.

For social life he was an active member of the Esquire 20 Club. He was a Prince Hall Mason affiliated with Caldonia Lodge #58 of Calhoun, Louisiana. He was a World War II Veteran also.

To his family he was always loving and patient. Striving to make a good living for them and rear them in the fear and admonition of the Lord. He believed in Education and offered his children the very best opportunity available to make them worthwhile citizens.

He departed this life November 22, 1978, at 6:20 PM in the Veteran Hospital at Alexandria, Louisiana.

His survivors include: a devoted wife, Mrs. Ora Lea Britton; one daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Richard; one son Kavin Britton, all of West Monroe, Louisiana; two brothers Willie Britton, West Monroe, Louisiana; Hodge Britton, Oakland, California; two sisters, Mrs. Arlona Nelson and Mrs. Teretha Britton, West Monroe, Louisiana; two grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
