Welcome to Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church's new blog. This will be in a work in progress for some time as we learn to create and manage our posts.

We hope you'll begin to find content that will be helpful in your daily walks with God as well as begin to see our upcoming memorial posts for those whose earthly bodies lay at rest in the Mount Pleasant Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorial: Sister Jane Britton

Service held on Sunday, November 30, 1958

June 6, 1873 a baby girl was born to the late Mr. Joe and Mrs. Eliza Perkins in Union Parish. She received her early education in the elementary schools of Union Parish. She joined the church when quite young.

Mrs. Britton was married to the late Mr. Aulder Britton January 1906. To this union two girls and five boys were added.

They made their home in the Britton Community and united with the Jerusalem Baptist Church and remained until she moved to the Mt. Pleasant Community in 1943. She united with Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church under the late Rev. I.J. Johnson and remained until she was called from labor to reward Thursday morning 12:10 AM November 27, 1958.

Mrs. Britton was a loyal wife, and a good christian mother. She was always ready and willing to share and lend a helping hand to all in need.

She leaves to mourn two daughters, Mrs. Arlona Nelson, Calhoun, Louisiana, Mrs. Teretha Britton Elmore, West Monroe, Louisiana, four sons, Willis, Monroe, Joe, West Monroe, Jack and Hodge, Oakland, California, thirty grandchildren, fourteen great-grand-children, one sister, nieces, nephews and friends.
