Memorial: Sister Mildred Wiley Cassey

"There can be no real and abiding happiness without sacrifice"
Sister Mildred Wiley Cassey
Alpha (unknown)
Omega June 10, 1983
Service held Wednesday, June 15, 1983

Such was the life of Sister Mildred Dean Wiley Cassey, the second of six children born to the union of Sister Eunice and the late Jesse Wiley, Sr. Her life was a strong reflector of the Christian home in which she was reared; for she was an inspiration to those who knew her in Christian faith and a "pillow" for the entire family.

She was baptized into the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church at an early age under the pastorate of the late Revered I.J. Johnson. She began her services as a Youth Usher and terminated them as an alto in the Senior Choir.

In 1952, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Fred W. Cassey and remained a faithful wife until his death in 1978. To this union four children were born, three daughters and one son. Sister Cassey devoted her life rendering service to God, her family, her community and the needy.

Having been suddenly stricken on June 10, 1983 during the mid-morning hours, she departed this life at Glenwood Medical Center. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: mother, Mrs. Eunice Wiley, Eros, Louisiana; daughters, Mrs. Majorie Strickland, Monroe, Louisiana, Mrs. Barbara Taylor, Houston, Texas, and Ms. Sherry Cassey, West Monroe, Louisiana; one son, Mr. Bernard Wilburn Cassey; two foster children, Ms. Michelle Singleton and Ms Ethel Lee, West Monroe, Louisiana; sister, Mrs. Lucy Jackson, Eros, Louisiana; three brothers, Jesse Wiley, Jr., West Monroe, Louisiana, Roy Wiley, Plainfield, New Jersey and Joe Louis Wiley, Shreveport, Louisiana; three grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
