Sister Herberdean Jackson, daughter of Charlie and Lucinda Jackson departed this life on, Thursday, June 1, 2006 at 4:50 pm. "Mother" as her children so fondly called her, was born in West Monroe, Louisiana on December 27, 1924. She accepted Christ at a very early age by becoming a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of West Monroe, Louisiana. She was an active member of the Deaconess Board and the Senior Choir until her health failed.

She was educated in Ouachita Parish. Having an interest in the area of nursing, "Mother" later completed a two-year program, which led to a Nurse's Aide position at Glenwood Medical Center, maintaining the position for a number of years.

"Mother's" life enjoyments consisted of the excitement of the nursing profession, visiting with a select number of relatives and friends, and eating at many restaurants in the Monroe area. Her demeanor was quiet, assuring, strong, courageous, and focused on goals that she mentally had put in place for herself and her family. She managed everything well.

"Mother" was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Hosea Jackson, son, Percy Jackson, brothers, Alonzo Jackson, James Johnson and one niece, Patricia Johnson.

"Mother" Jackson is survived by her three children, Melvin Allen of West Monroe, Edith Lowe-Douzart of Monroe, Louisiana; and Shelia J. Fobbs (Lee), Greensboro, NC; thirteen grandchildren, Sean Lowe (Verenda), Little Rock, AR; Brian Lowe (Yadiara), Pittsburgh, PA, Broderick Fobbs (Kimbia), Natchitoches, Louisiana, Jamaal Fobbs, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Chelsea Fobbs, Greensboro, NC, Bobby D. Roach, Monroe, Louisiana, Sharon Harris, Yolanda Allen, Athen Nichelson and Ena Fincher, all of Las Vegas, NV, Glen Scott, Brandon Allen and Benjamin Allen, all of Monroe, Louisiana; nieces, Doris Calcote, West Monroe, Louisiana,Yvonne Sparks (Virgil), Monroe, Louisiana, Cynthia Johnson, Oakland, California, Janice Boykin (Michael), Hayward, California; sister-in-laws, Edith Odell, West Monroe, Louisiana, Odell Jackson, Monroe, Louisiana, Frances Jackson, Calhoun, Louisiana and Luella Jackson, Angie, Louisiana; other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended nieces, nephews and great grand children.
