Welcome to Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church's new blog. This will be in a work in progress for some time as we learn to create and manage our posts.

Memorial: Sister Lizzie Y. Hanspard

Sister Lizzie Hanspard was born June 23, 1899 and departed this life on September 26, 1980. She was the daughter of the late Brother Mitchell and Sister Jeanette Johnson Young. She was the fouth of five children born to that union, all who preceded her in death.

She confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Mineral Springs C.M.E. Church, Calhoun, Louisiana.

In September 16, 1922 she was united in holy wedlock to the late James Hanspard.
She served in all the churches in the Communities where she lived, (Mineral Springs, Mt. Pleasant and Hopewell Chruches).
She leaves to cherish her loving memory: four daughters, Mrs. Rosie L. Lewis, Mrs. Janice Head, Mrs. Emma Jackson, all of West Monroe, Louisiana, Mrs. Jeanette Steels of Chicago, Illinois; two sons, Mr. B.H. Hanspard of Broadview, Illinois and Mr. Presss Hanspard of Monroe, Louisiana; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
