Bro. Jesse Wiley, Jr. was born December 6, 1929, to the union of the late Jesse & Eunice Williams Wiley. He departed this life on September 9, 2009, at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.

He united with the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully until death. As a member of the church, he occupied numerous positions which include President of the Choir, Superintendent of Sunday School, Chairman of the Deacon Ministry, Chairman of the Cemetery Committee and Deacon Emeritus. Bro. Jesse Wiley, Jr. would do whatever was needed to enhance the mission of the church.

He was educated in Ouachita Parish, a graduate from Carroll High School. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean conflict and received an Honorable discharge. He retired from Nelson Lumber Company after working over thirty years.

He was united in holy matrimony to Dorothy Jackson on February 25, 1953. They celebrated fifty-six years of marital bliss. To this union, two children were born.

He leaves to cherish his memories a wife, Dorothy Wiley, West Monroe, LA; one son, Welton (Greta) Wiley, one daughter, Daphna' (Clarence) Smith, both of West Monroe, LA; four grandchildren: Justin, Mario (Lana), Tiffanie and Kolby Wiley; one great grandson: Pharoh Wiley; one God-child: Terry S. Powell, Spokane, Washington; He is survived by three siblings: Roy Wiley, West Monroe, LA, Joe Wiley, Shreveport, LA, and Lucy (Andrew) Jackson, West Monroe, LA; Two siblings preceded him in death: Mildred Cassey and Robert Wiley; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
